A global supplier to the aero and automotive industries with several sites in the West Midlands. They are currently closing their operations in Walsall, West Midlands and to assist with this task, they require a 'YINI' student:
Placement:
'To support the transfer of a Manufacturing Facility to our Sister Facility located 9 miles away, the scope of work would be to support the manufacturing engineers in carrying out activities prior to the relocation taking place:-
Including:-
1) M/c Template Creation, Machining & Assembly cell layout finalization & optimization. Working with Production operatives & Engineers using Lean principles in optimization.
2) Supporting engineers in identifying tooling which requires transferring to our sister facility and optimizing amount which will be shared between the two facilities whilst the change takes place
3) Supporting engineers in identifying gauging which requires transferring to our sister facility and optimizing amount which will be shared between the two facilities whilst the change takes place
4) Supporting engineers in gaining capability data off machinery & transferring this data onto our system also learning about statistical control tools and what is required by the customer
5) Supporting engineers in understanding stock space requirements including Kanban and helping to optimise requirement at the future relocation
6) Whilst onsite they would also be given the opportunity to work with our CAD system 3D Pro Engineer & be given an understanding of other tools used such as PFMEA's, Repeatability studies, MFG Pro manufacturing system etc..
This is a great opportunity for Year in Industry Students to support a real project which will require the use of numerous tools used within engineering including Lean principles, Quality Tools, Risk Assessments and understanding how a manufacturing facility operates and what is required by the customer when such a change takes place, they will also see the outcome of their work as this project is happening now.'
